Acoustic Smart Cards

Identita's acoustic smart card uses state-of-the-art dynamic acoustic recognition technology. Each time a users presses the card button or identifies themselves on biometric models, this powered smart card generates a unique acoustic tone to enable authentication with a microphone-equipped computing device or through a telephone. Depending on the application, the software automatically records and compresses the digital audio signal containing the binary sequence and relays the signal to the authentication server. The authentication server demodulates the signal to extract and check the user's PIN/passphrase, then grants appropriate access to the application.

How an Acoustic Card works

Each time the user presses the button on the card, it generates a unique dynamic signature carried thru sound, allowing for authentication with any device equipped with a microphone or via a telephone or IVR interface. Depending on the application, the software registers and automatically compresses the digital audio signal that contains the dynamic sequence and transmits it to Identita’s ECHOsystem™ authentication server. The authentication sever decodes the digital hash & timestamp to extract and verify the PIN or passphrase, and then provides access to the application. For banking, retail, and customer service applications, it reduces the response time from an average of twelve minutes to forty-five seconds, allowing the user to purchase online or offline and send or receive money in a timely and secure way.

Identita's display cards use time-based state-of-the-art dynamic one-time pass (OTP) technology. Each time a user presses the card button, this powered smart card displays a unique OTP sequence to enable authentication with any computing device or through a telephone. Display cards are extensible to three-factor authentication with the addition of built-in biometric sensors.

How a Display Card's works

When a user presses the button on their display card, the card displays a dynamic OTP signature which is translated into six,eight or twelve digits and then displayed on the card. Depending on the application, either the client application or the authentication server captures a binary representation of the OTP and relays it with the user's pin/ passphrase to the authentication server. Once the OTP and password are verified by the authentication server, access to the application or resource is granted.

Biometric Cards

By extending Identita's powered cards to three-factor authentication using biometric sensors, government and commercial enterprises can securely verify and certify the identities of anyone seeking physical or logical access. The combination of powered card and biometric technologies will dramatically impact identity recognition, security access, and cryptographic applications. Embedded biometric sensors verify a user's identity by measuring physical features, for example a finger print, that are unique to that user. A user’s biometric information is stored on the powered card, the card is placed in a reader, and a biometric scanner reads the information to match it against that on the card. Once the authentication server verifies that the person presenting the card is who they say they are, access is granted.
